Ceramic Erin
I started drawing bicycles on pots in 2007 when I traded my car for one at New Belgium Brewery's Tour de Fat. I was never an avid cyclist, but I realized I could experience a better quality of life in the slow lane, so I agreed to commute via bike for one year. I am now telling stories with the bicycle, reflecting my life and emotions: The bicycle is lost in a strange, beautiful world, small among the towering flowers; she dives, sometimes with conviction, other times accidental; she launches to the moon, reaching for the stars and striving to succeed, or simply feeling joyous and out-of-this-world; and she is growing, traveling to the top. I am also working on bringing together the elements of a pot - the drawing, form and glaze - to create a unified work of art. I want to give people a reason to have open shelves in their kitchen instead of closed cabinets.
